1885 Map of Banks County, Georgia. Originally, this was Franklin County. Banks county was formed from part of Franklin county in 1858. Franklin county originally streached from Gwinette county Georgia into Northwestern South Carolina. I have maps dating back to before the Revolutionary War showing this. Many of the deeds in the Franklin county records show that the land was paid for in pounds until about 1800 when the dollar started showing up.

USGS Map of Jewelville showing Nails Creek Baptist Church and cemetary where many of my ancestors are buried. The land the church was built on in 1787 was donated by my family. Many of the buildings shown on the map were built by my family and some are still occupied by relatives. The original homeplace plantation house is the black L shaped spot on the map on the north east side of the intersection about halfway between the intersection and the right side of the map. The small faint square just to the right of it between the house and the road is the original family store which still stands, but is no longer used as a store.
